Sharjah 24: The Friends of Arthritis Patients, affiliated with the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, in partnership with Al Qudra Sports Services Company, organised the Million Steps Marathon in the University City, on Sunday.
The event targets private school students in the Emirate of Sharjah, their parents, and a number of media professionals, to promote the association's largest event, which is the 11th annual marathon, scheduled to be held next February.
For her part, Wahida Abdelaziz, Chairperson of the Friends of Arthritis Patients, praised the work team for their efforts in preparations for the marathon.
This comes in line with the directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs,
She pointed out the importance of organising the Million Steps Marathon, which targeted a group of private school students in the Emirate and their parents, in order to motivate them to practice appropriate sports, and to obtain advice and guidance to prevent joint diseases.
The Million Step Marathon included the crowning of the first three places in the boys and girls category with souvenirs represented by medals.
At the end, thanks were given to all participants, as part of the association’s objectives, which aim to raise the level of awareness of the symptoms of joint diseases and their causes, and learn about ways to prevent them and the latest treatments available for them, in addition to providing necessary support for arthritis patients.
