Sharjah 24: In accordance with the directives and vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Sharjah Cooperative Society for Fishermen (CSF) and the Sharjah Cooperative Society was witnessed by the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA). This agreement aims to support the needs of fishermen and to utilise the resources necessary to keep up fishing activities and overcome obstacles.
Since the fisheries sector is vital to the emirate's pursuit of self-sufficiency, the parties to the agreement have agreed to work together more effectively to assist fishermen and reach shared objectives in this area.
The Sharjah Cooperative will regularly distribute fresh fish that local fishermen have brought to the emirate, according to Ali Ahmed Ali Abu Ghazin, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority. This fulfils the vision of His Highness, who encourages "our fish from our sea" and helps increase local fish production, which in turn helps with self-sufficiency.
According to Abu Ghazin, this agreement will support the community and strengthen the fishing industry in the emirate by establishing a foundation of trust with customers.
He lauded the Sharjah Cooperative Society for its crucial role in assisting fishermen and selling the seafood they catch every day.
He also brought attention to the ongoing cooperation and coordination with the Sharjah Fisheries Wealth Authority and the Fishermen's Associations, with the purpose of accomplishing common objectives in support of the thriving emirate.
