Artist Adam Williamson finds inspiration in Islamic patterns

Sharjah 24: British artist Adam Williamson expressed interest in Islamic patterns. He said that he had developed this interest through his trips to Morocco and Turkey, and these geometric forms had influence on him.

During his participation in the 25th edition of the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival (SIAF) organised by the Sharjah Department of Culture under the theme "Manifestations”, he told “Sharjah 24” how he actually enjoys these forms and how they reflect the natural world. He added that he uses tree patterns in his work; as a result, he incorporates their ideas into his work.

He explained that he uses plaster and pigments and he carves by his hands, adding that he is interested in traditional methods of using hands-on production to get the shadows created.
