Sharjah 24: As part of the activities of the twenty-fifth Islamic Arts Festival, His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Cultural Department, and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department, inaugurated the photography exhibition “Islamiyat - Handicrafts”, in cooperation with Union of Arab Photographers, at Sharjah Public Library, in the presence of Adeeb Shaaban, Head of the Union, and a large number of artists, media figures, and photography enthusiasts.
The exhibition included 40 photographic works by Emirati and Arab photographers representing 15 countries, and most of the works focused on photographing pottery as an extension of the history of Islamic art. It was also keen to translate the spirit and theme of the festival, “Manifestations,” and at the same time, sought to imitate Islamic arts.

The audience examined a series of works, particularly by Jordanian photographer Tariq Ibrahim Hadi and Saudi photographer Hanaa Turkestani, two of the most prominent Arab photographers.

Shaaban said that the Union of Arab Photographers is participating strongly in this distinguished artistic event. The Arab photographers’ work must be compatible with the beauty of this festival. From this standpoint, this participation comes from two distinguished photographers, and it is an image that reflects Sharjah’s support for Arab photographers to find their cultural incubator, and art to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Abdullah Al Owais and Mohammed Al Qaseer honoured the winners of the exhibition competition, namely, Issa Ibrahim from Bahrain, in first place, Mohammed Najeeb from Egypt, in second place, and Abdullah Al Khalili from Algeria, in third place.
