Fawaz Younes is a fine artist and a lawyer, holding a diploma in Art Education from the University of Aleppo. He taught fine art for several years before turning to law, while continuing to practise art and showcase his work in both solo and group exhibitions.
The exhibition featured 34 paintings, a collection of impressionist works ranging from natural landscapes and scenes of Syrian life to historical landmarks and the impact of war on both place and people. The artworks were marked by a clear individuality, where colour differentiation stood out through vibrant hues used to convey the impressions the artist seeks to share with the viewer. These works carried a delicate aesthetic sensibility, inviting us to explore the details with the eyes of the heart.
Throughout his long artistic career, Fawaz Younes has been captivated by nature and its charm, full of lines, forms, shapes, and colours. His works have been artistic manifestations in various styles of this beauty and natural richness, creating paintings that match the diverse natural scenes he encounters. He moves between impressionism, realism, and abstraction, but his distinct signature lies in his use of colour. He also dedicated special works to women as a tribute of respect and appreciation—portraying women with deep meanings of beauty, love, simplicity, and spontaneity. He depicted her as a rural woman engaged in daily chores, a beautiful, dreamy girl, and as a symbol of the land and giving.
The “Illuminations” exhibition crowns a rich artistic journey through which Fawaz Younes expressed his vision of the world using elements of light, composition, and nostalgia, offering the viewer an aesthetic and human experience filled with beauty and affection.
