Al Shamsi witnesses Unified Gulf Inmates Week event

Sharjah 24: Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, confirmed that the Punitive and Correctional Institution of Sharjah Police has taken a high-level path and approach in rehabilitating inmates by launching many pioneering initiatives, which have contributed to supporting the correctional process and improving the institution’s performance in accordance with international human rights standards derived originally from the justice of our religion and our noble Sharia and its approach to treating inmates and detainees.
He pointed out that the values and principles that form the basis of our daily work embody the approach that we derived from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, stressing that we will continue on this path forever.

This came during the Sharjah General Police Command’s celebration of the Unified Gulf Inmates Week, which was held under the slogan “Let's give them hope and work” at the headquarters of the Punitive and Correctional Institution in Sharjah, in the presence of Brigadier Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal, Director General of Police Operations; Brigadier Abdullah Ibrahim bin Nassar, Deputy Director General of Resources and Services Support; Brigadier General Dr. Ali Ahmed Bu Alzoud, Deputy Director General of Central Operations; and a number of department directors, officers, strategic partners, and families of inmates.

The Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police extended his thanks and appreciation to the strategic partners from departments, bodies, institutions and charitable societies for their outstanding efforts in enhancing the quality of life of inmates, and achieving the strategic goals and vision of the wise leadership in this regard.

For her part, Colonel Mona Sorour Al Shuwaihi, Deputy Director of the Punitive and Correctional Institution Department, said that the framework of the positive impact of the Unified Inmate Week contributes to enhancing the spirit of optimism and motivating inmates through rehabilitative, correctional and educational programmes, to enable inmates to return after release as good individuals for society, noting that the institution, through our partners who constitute an important focal force, pushes us to undertake exemplary initiatives that have a significant and direct impact on the reform and rehabilitation processes of inmates and supporting their families.

The audience then watched a film produced by the Sharjah Police General Command, titled “Adam’s Tree,” followed by an interactive, instructive dialogue session. At the end of the ceremony, the Sharjah Police General Command announced the release of (9) inmates.

After that, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, honoured the partners who played a prominent role in the success of the Unified Inmate Week activities and programmes.
