New Arabic Language Council in Mauritania Inaugurated

Sharjah24: Under the patronage of President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and the benevolence of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, President of the Arab Language Academy in Sharjah, Dr. Ahmed Sidi Ahmed Aj, the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with the Mauritanian Parliament, officially opened the new building of the Arabic Language Council in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, yesterday evening. This council, comprised of a distinguished group of scholars, has the important task of promoting the use of the Arabic language within Mauritania and beyond.
This event unfolded in the presence of prominent diplomatic and media figures, along with the leaders of various Arabic linguistic academies. During the occasion, Mr. Mohamed Hassan Khalaf, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Language Academy in Sharjah and the Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, conveyed the sentiments of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, to the linguistic community and researchers in Mauritania. He emphasised the significance of supporting scientific projects and maintaining continuous efforts to enhance the global standing of the Arabic language. He also highlighted the profound ties between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Mauritania.

In a reciprocal gesture, the Minister of Culture of Mauritania presented a symbolic shield to His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, which was received by Mr. Mohamed Hassan Khalaf. The Minister praised the Ruler of Sharjah for his dedicated service to the Arabic language, Arab culture, and Islamic culture across various nations.

Accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Hassan Khalaf and Dr. Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of Arabic Language Academy (ALA), the Minister of Culture of Mauritania unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the inauguration of the building. They participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony and explored the two-story structure, encompassing administrative offices, study and meeting rooms, a library, and a mosque capable of accommodating over 300 worshipers.

The construction of this building was executed on land granted by the Mauritanian government in the University neighborhood. His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, generously covered all construction costs and fully furnished the building.
