Sharjah24: The first Sharjah International Conference on Arabic Language Studies in Europe, held on the 29th and 30th of October at the Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre and organised by the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah under the title "Arabic Studies in Europe: Reality and Prospects," drew a large number of scholars, orientalists, and Arabists from various European countries.
Several European academics and scholars stressed at the conference that teaching Arabic in various places throughout the world fosters understanding and dialogue while also promoting principles of brotherhood and global peace.

They emphasised that the Arabic language's knowledge and studies had a substantial and direct influence on the cultural renaissance in many European nations. They also shared pioneering experiences from many European institutes and universities that offered students the opportunity to explore and learn Arabic.

More than 22 scholars and professionals from 11 nations participated in the conference's sessions.

Dr Mohamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy (ALA), spoke about the conference's objectives, which revolve on promoting, teaching, and nurturing the Arabic language in various European nations, in his conference speech. He also emphasised the challenges that the language faces.

He said, "This conference provides a valuable global platform that reflects the vision and aspirations of His Highness Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah."
