Sharjah 24: Under the slogan “United in working to save and achieve the sustainable development goals for, with and through persons with disabilities,” Al Wafa School for Capacity Development of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, from 3 to 12 December 2023, celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities through a group of events, lectures, activities, workshops, dialogue sessions, and recreational trips.
The celebration targets families of persons with disabilities, students with disabilities, workers in the field of special education, and the external community.

Dr. Samia Mohamed Saleh, Director of Al Wafa School for Capacity Development, confirmed that the focus of this year’s celebration revolves around the sustainable development goals to ensure the implementation of the goal of good education, good health and well-being, reducing inequalities and building partnerships to achieve the goals.

Saleh spoke about ensuring that adequate financial resources are allocated to integrate people with disabilities, and development must be a priority moving forward. It is necessary for people with disabilities around the world to participate in these programmes and activities and contribute to organising them, noting that people with disabilities are the most vulnerable in conflicts, stressing that the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals serve as a basic roadmap for action.
