SCI entrenches volunteerism in all segments of society

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) revealed that its volunteering and community service office includes about 170 volunteers in several different specialisations, including engineering, medicine, law, education, information systems, and translation. The categories of volunteers also vary between university and school students and employees of public and private sectors.
Mohammed Salim Al-Manai, director of the aid department at the SCI, said that coinciding with the International Volunteer Day, which falls on the 5th of December every year, the SCI confirms that its doors are open to receive every person with a volunteer idea, explaining that the roles of volunteer teams have a great impact in accelerating the pace of work and community service.

He added that the current year was full of volunteer programmes that were implemented by the SCI’s volunteering and community service office, most prominently the relief campaigns that were implemented for those affected by earthquakes in Syria and Turkey under the slogan “Bridges of Goodness.”, the “Tarahum” campaign for Gaza, in addition to many volunteer programmes that are launched on a regular basis to support needy families and senior citizens, to enhance the role of the Charity in carrying out its responsibilities towards society, through purposeful participation in many events, and organising entertainment programmes to bring joy and happiness to children from needy families, and also to pay attention to activities related to the elderly and to support them psychologically and morally.
