Sharjah24: Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” organised Path to Entrepreneurship” workshop at the American University of Sharjah “AUS” to introduce entrepreneurship to the ways of initiating business in the market.
This workshop aimed at spreading the culture of economics, creativity and entrepreneurship among university students while they are studying. Also, it sought to motivate students to join the world of entrepreneurship, encouraging them to implement their innovative projects and enabling them to unleash their energies and creativity to contribute effectively to serving their country and providing them with all facilities and capabilities to implement these projects. 

The workshop was given to students from the College of Business Administration, the College of Engineering, and a number of other colleges at the American University of Sharjah. It intended to strengthening the sustainable entrepreneurship system in Sharjah and contributing to providing opportunities for innovation and growth, building the capabilities of aspiring entrepreneurs, and qualifying students to initiate entrepreneurship projects and invest the idea, skill, talent and experience and transform them into a successful project.

The workshop was launched with an introduction about the economy and the economic situation in the emirate. The procedures for obtaining commercial licenses, activities, and permits issued by SEDD were also explained. Also, students were introduced to the main and important steps to start launching an entrepreneurial project, and the sound foundations for launching into the world of entrepreneurship by learning and acquiring the qualities that distinguish an entrepreneur. Likewise, information and data related to economic activities in the emirate were highlighted.  

In addition, the workshop represented many topics, including e-commerce license, (Eitimad) domestic licenses, and foreign investor law. For its part, with Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurship "RUWAD” presented the typical steps to start establishing a business, the initial and financial planning for the feasibility study of the project, in addition to discussing the accelerators of the successful implementation, establishment, and opening of the project.

Commenting on that, Abdelaziz Omar Al Midfa, Deputy Director of Government Communication Department at SEDD, emphasized that the Department focuses on providing such workshops continuously to all segments of society. He said that such workshops help to consolidate the vision of Sharjah, which aims to accelerate the process of innovation and achieve a positive impact in the field of entrepreneurship.

Moreover, Al Midfa pointed out that the organization of such workshops fall within SEDD’s concerns to communicate and connect with all academic entities to implement a series of advanced training workshops to contribute to enhancing the vital role of entrepreneurs and give them the motivation to move forward in establishing their own projects.
