Sharjah24: The second edition of SAT, which began today, November 11, 2023, and will run until March 10, 2024, explores the complex relationship between architecture and adaptability, revealing how architecture meets society's and the environment's changing needs. Participants examine how impermanence affects architectural design and urban planning.
“Sharjah 24” interviewed Nigerian architect and designer Tosin Oshinowo, Curator of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial (SAT02), known for her socially sensitive architecture.
She said, "The Sharjah Architecture Triennial (SAT) is a vital venue for architecture and urbanism in West Asia, South Asia, and Africa. The SAt02 theme is Beauty of Impermanence and the Architecture of Adaptability. This edition features 29 artists from 26 nations whose work addresses global South challenges.
She went on to say,"we are excited to showcase immersive works about materiality and discuss some of the challenges we face with our economically sensitive development, as well as projects that highlight the ephemeral and complex nature of what it means to be human and the opportunity for us to come together and celebrate our humanity in constructive and positive ways.
