Sharjah 24: Khaled Jassim Al Midfa was elected as a member of the International Union for Marine Sports (UIM) for the period 2023–2027 following a vote at the General Assembly held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Al Midfa is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club and the Deputy Chairman of the UAE Marine Sports Federation.
Al Midfa was ecstatic about this Emirati success, which he claimed showed rising international support for the United Arab Emirates. He lauded President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the primary driver of this trust, because he values and promotes sports of all kinds. He also lauded His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unwavering support of marine sports.
Al Midfa praised the role of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa's UAE Marine Sports Federation and its members for their efforts to advance marine sports throughout the Arab world and beyond.
