Sharjah 24: Ahmed Al Hosani, Director General of the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, announced the commencement of the initial phase of the "Marjan" project. This initiative is dedicated to the cultivation and restoration of coral reefs in the Emirate of Sharjah and its coastal cities.
In his exclusive statements to “Sharjah24,” Al Hosani emphasised that the Marjan project is a significant national environmental endeavour undertaken by the club. Its primary aim is to raise awareness about environmental risks and implement sustainable solutions to tackle marine environmental challenges effectively.

Al Hosani further clarified that the project is in line with the UAE's commitment to marine sustainability and educating sea enthusiasts on the importance of coral preservation. Coral reefs are critical marine ecosystems known for their biodiversity, offering a natural habitat for various marine species and playing a crucial role in shoreline protection from erosion.

Israa Al Hosani, Member of the Sharjah Ladies Diving Team associated with the club, added that the Marjan project aligns with the nation's efforts to address climate change impacts, coinciding with the start of the COP28 climate conference.

Israa Al Hosani also expressed their hope that this project will convey a message from Sharjah to the global community, emphasising the significance of coral reefs as vital sanctuaries for marine life and a national treasure that requires conservation.
