Sharjah 24: Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the FUNN- Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children, and Director of the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, explained that the festival received more than 1,700 entries from 90 countries.
Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah stated that the festival selected 80 films from 37 countries, with the participation of countries participating for the first time including Montenegro, Bhutan and the Congo, noting that the festival’s activities will run until October 28.
Speaking exclusively to “Sharjah 24”, Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi explained that the festival includes educational workshops and discussion panels, stressing that the presence of cultures from countries across the world enriches the culture of the participating youth and children and gives them the opportunity to be familiarised with the other’s cultures and opinions, despite the fact that almost everyone discusses the same issues as bullying, climate change and famine; however, each person expresses it differently.
The proceeds of the festival in its tenth edition were allocated to children in Palestine in cooperation with The Big Heart Foundation, coinciding with the inhumane events in the Gaza Strip due to the war.
