Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) and affiliated branches announced the completion of their preparations for the “Pink October” campaign, during the month of October, through a diverse agenda of events, activities and offers for women and girls.
In this regard, Her Excellency Khawla Al Sarkal, Director General of the Sharjah Women’s Club, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP), indicated that within the framework of the Sharjah Ladies Club’s contribution to supporting community and health initiatives in the Emirate of Sharjah, and to consolidate its position as a healthy city for the second time, the club and branches participate in the activities of the “Pink October” campaign.
Her Excellency Khawla Al Sarkal added that the “Pink October” campaign aims at disseminating the concepts and behaviours of sound health culture among members of society, enhancing efforts aimed at preventing breast cancer, raising awareness among women of the dangers of this disease, and encouraging them to perform early detection for the purposes of prevention through conducting regular medical examinations, maintaining healthy eating habits, and following a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
Al Sarkal confirmed the cooperation between the club and branches with a group of governmental and community institutions, hospitals, health centres and medical clinics. She explained that a diverse plan of programmes and events has been developed to accompany the campaign through health lectures, sports and recreational activities, and awareness workshops directed at women and girls.
The Mediclinic Wellcare Hospital will provide free examinations for the club’s employees and visitors and services discounts. It will also offer awareness workshops, while the club branches will offer discounts on members’ monthly subscriptions and services hosted by the club branches during the campaign days.
Orchid Boutique, Collage Talent Centre, 180 Fitness Centre, Marassi Restaurant, and Ibdaa Centre will offer a package of discounts and competitive offers on their services, and carry out educational lectures and events throughout the month of October.
As part of the campaign activities, the club took the initiative to provide a designated space to display and sell the products of the FoCP, with the aim of supporting the efforts of the association and its active members.
