Sharjah 24: Within the framework of the programmes held by Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), on the occasion of International Day for Older Persons, the department organised a series of recreational trips with the aim of bringing joy and happiness, enhancing the social well-being of senior citizens, and promoting community awareness and social integration.
On this occasion, Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki, Director of the Kalba Branch, stated that these trips were organised with the aim of providing a day full of sports, cultural and social activities for senior citizens, strengthening social ties and raising their morale, as an embodiment of SSSD commitment to strengthening the role of adults in society and enhancing their well-being.
Al Darmaki pointed out that 220 senior citizens, in different cities of the Emirate of Sharjah, including Dibba Al Hisn, Al Dhaid, Kalba, Maliha, Al Madam, Al Hamriya, Sharjah City, Al Bataeh, and Khor Fakkan, benefited from these trips. He added that the participants enjoyed sports, sultural and social activities, which created an atmosphere of fun and social cohesion between the members and employees responsible for this event.
The trips included 14 tourist and entertainment destinations nationwide, including: Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre, Hatta Royal House, the Celebrity Farm in Al Bidiya, Al Bustan Farms, Al Shorouk Farm in the Al Helio area, Al Shinasiyah Market in the Emirate of Sharjah, the Hatta Countryside Farm, Al Zubair Farm in Ajman, the Jumeirah Village Market in Dubai, the Dubai Frame, and the Kalba City Rest House. , Villa Bella Farm in Khor Fakkan, Sharq Market for the men’s category in Khor Fakkan, and Sharqiya Farm in Kalba.
Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki added that such trips are an integral part of the ongoing efforts provided by SSSD to support and care for senior citizens socially, health-wise and psychologically, to enhance their positive role in society.
