Sharjah 24: Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Naqbi, Director of the Kalba Municipality, revealed that the city’s beach has been certified as a beach that is age-friendly to people with disabilities, in addition to obtaining a Blue Flag certificate.
Dr. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of the city of Kalba, inaugurated the blue flag event along the city’s beach, after the Municipality of Kalba passed international standards related to security and environmental safety.
The vice chiarman, members of the municipal council, directors and representatives of government departments and institutions in the city of Kalba participated in the flag inauguration ceremony.
Al-Naqbi said the achievement comes in line with the visions and aspirations of the wise leadership that aims to reach international standards in various fields, especially tourism and the environment.
He added that the municipality passed the desired standards after developing beach facilities to suit the needs of the elderly and people with disabilities, providing the necessary requirements including many rest areas, exercise equipment and facilities, as well as a rubber walkway.
He explained that among the additions to the city's beach were the provision of 6 lifeguard platforms for beachgoers who wish to swim, advanced security and safety equipment, surveillance and rapid intervention vehicles, as well as designated parking lots for adults and people with disabilities.
