Al Hamriyah Honours Elders: A Day of Celebration and Connection

Sharjah24: The Al Hamriyah Municipality, in cooperation with the Social Services Department's Hamriyah Branch, celebrated the International Day for the Elderly by organising an event at the Women's Eastern Park, which was attended by 25 women. This event reflected the Hamriyah Municipality's commitment to caring for the elderly in the Hamriyah community.
Various departments and sections within the Hamriyah Municipality participated in coordinating this community event, which conveyed several messages and objectives aimed at highlighting the importance of intergenerational communication and acknowledging the significant contributions made by elderly individuals across different fields. Additionally, workshops for crafting were provided by women associated with the Social Services Department's Hamriyah Branch.

The organisers of Hamriyah Municipality's annual initiative arranged a range of activities, including cultural, heritage, and entertainment contests that were enthusiastically embraced by the participating women. Furthermore, gifts were distributed to all participants with the intention of bringing joy to their lives and facilitating their integration into society.

His Excellency Mubarak Rashed Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, underscored that the municipality's celebration was in line with the wise leadership's commitment to offering exceptional human services and enhancing the well-being of the elderly. He emphasised that International Day for the Elderly serves as a day of gratitude for their lifelong dedication to serving the nation and elevating its status. Through their participation, they actively support direct human interaction and contribute to the promotion of values that prioritize the well-being of senior citizens.

Al Shamsi also emphasised the municipality's dedication to involving senior citizens in various programmes, events, and initiatives as part of its commitment to realising the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This vision has turned Sharjah into a positive environment for the elderly, fostering hope, encouraging active participation, and promoting sustained engagement within this demographic group.
