The World Tourism Day event and exhibition were held on Wednesday at Khorfakkan University's campus in the National Martyrs Hall in honor of World Tourism Day, which launched on September 27 each year. The event was planned in collaboration with the Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.
About 10 government agencies and institutions participated in the exhibition accompanying the event, in addition to a number of hotels and establishments operating in the field of tourism and travel on the East Coast and the country in general.
In an exclusive statement to Sharjah 24 ,Professor Dr. Ahmed Al Shamaa, Director of University of Khorfakkan, affirmed that the event aimed to develop the tourism culture among university students and enhance their awareness of the significant of domestic tourism in the country.
The university director emphasized the significance of such opportunities for university students to interact with a select group of top tourism institutions and destinations in the United Arab Emirates, pointing out to the significance of tourism, which is one of the most effective means of culture that contributes to exchanging expertise between various cultures and peoples worldwide in addition to being a significant economic sector that provides careers for job seekers.
Al-Shamaa stressed University’s keenness to keep pace with the requirements of the labor market in the tourism sector and provide it with a group of distinguished and qualified graduates to advance tourism development at the local and international levels.
The exhibition accompanying the event includes a presentation of the most significant tourism and environmental projects and the various archaeological monuments that characterize the Emirate of Sharjah, which have contributed to strengthening its position on the tourism map regionally and globally.
