Sharjah24: On the first day of the twenty-third edition of the Sharjah International Narrator Forum (SINF), five new publications were unveiled. The day saw a plethora of cultural sessions focusing on the rich heritage of plants and trees within the local and Arab folklore. These sessions highlighted the enduring influence of flora on UAE and Arab creators throughout history.
The cultural sessions, taking place at the Expo Centre Sharjah until September 20, featured an opening session and three sub-sessions. The forum, hosting more than 47 countries and involving 120 experts, researchers, and storytellers, has Qatar as its guest of honor for this session.

Aisha Al Hussan Al Shamsi, Director of the Arabian Heritage Centre of the SIH and General Coordinator of the SINF, emphasised the profound significance of plants and trees in heritage, encompassing thought, imagination, and practicality. They symbolise life, medicine, shelter, and unity with the land, serving as a source of stories and memories.

The cultural discussion sessions welcomed folklore experts who concurred that plants and trees provide inspiration for artistic creations, particularly in preserving heritage and memory, including popular poetry and various creative arts.

The forum also featured a series of workshops throughout its duration, covering diverse topics related to plants and nature. These workshops include "Flowering Pen," "Convincing Plants," "Letters to the Forest," "The Plant Bag," "The Neighbor’s Tree," "Making Nests," "The Areca Palm Tree in Juffair," "Palm Trees Painting," "Decorating Paintings with Sidr Trees," "Printing Plant Leaves," "Coloring Flower Leaves," "Decorating Bags with Flowers," "Rope Making," "Medicine with Sidr Leaves," "Agricultural Workshops," "Glass Farming Workshop," "Palm Tree Branches from the Emirates," "Paper Pomegranates," and "A Pomegranate Tree," among others.

Additionally, several significant publications related to plants and their cultural significance were launched on the first day of the SINF.
