The event witnessed the presence of Sheikh Majid bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs Department, Abdulla Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Culture, Matar Ahmed Saeed Al Khashri, Chairman of Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Sharjah International Narrator Forum (SINF), and a number of senior officials, intellectuals, and media professionals.
The opening activities began with a presentation that embodied the idea of the theme of the current edition of the forum about plants and their connection to stories.
After that, the Chairman of Sharjah Institute for Heritage gave a speech in which he presented an overview of the current year’s edition of the forum, addressing the importance of plants and trees in particular in the lives of Arabs since ancient times.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi honoured the winners of various awards of the SINF.
He also honoured the winners of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage in its third and fourth editions, along with members of the jury and a group of narrators.
The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah received a souvenir in appreciation of honouring the launch ceremony of the 23rd edition of the SINF.
Before the opening ceremony, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah toured various parts of the forum, listening to detailed explanations about the forum, its importance and its progress over 23 years, and what it achieved in order to continue to consolidate and enhance the role and status of the narrator in society.
The current edition begins with the participation of more than 120 experts, researchers and narrators representing more than 47 countries such as: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco, Sudan, Mauritania, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan, the Netherlands, China, Kenya, Germany, Italy and others.
