Sharjah24: Hundreds of excited and happy children from various UAE schools trooped into multiple film screening venues at the 9th Sharjah International Film Festival on Tuesday, October 11, as the highly popular school screenings programme commenced at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC), Sharjah, and Vox Cinemas in Al Zahia, Sharjah, and Mirdif City Centre, Dubai.
55 films across various genres were screened for schoolchildren at the three venues where SIFF 2022 continues its run until October 15.  

Two feature films for primary and middle schoolers had their MENA premiere at JRCC on Day 2 of the festival. Tales of Franz, an endearing Austrian film narrated the adventures and growing- up pains of a 9-year-old while Wolf Cubs of the Apple Valley focused on the travails of young Asho as he sets out to meet his long-lost mother.

At JRCC, children were spoilt for choice in the Animation Films category with a whopping 15 outstanding films. Aeronaut, META, The Cat in the Art Park, Battery Daddy, I’m not Afraid! Quino's Dream and Luce and the Rock targeted primary schoolers while Everything is Good, Peek-a-boom, Sanctuary, Encountering Samir, Hello Stranger, Before Heaven, The Ocean Duck and Klingert’s Diving Suit targeted older children.

Student Films screened on Day 2 at JRCC included Contretemps, Sauerkraut, Rest in Peace, The Seine’s Tears, Spinning Top, Baba Jafar and Melody Tone Dance.

30 films at VOX Cinemas at Al Zahia, Sharjah, and Mirdif City Centre, Dubai
On Day 2 of SIFF, 11 animations delighted young audiences at VOX cinemas at Al Zahia and Mirdif City Centre with heartwarming tales of furry creatures, familial relationships, adventures, and more. The movies screened included Cat And Moth, Blue Curry, Birth, My Name is Maluum, Mortimer and the vanishings, Sim-Patia, Death and the Lady, Homebird, She Dreams at Sunrise, It Was Only a Rock That Looked Like Someone, and Angakusajaujuq - The Shaman's Apprentice, shortlisted for the 2022 Academy Awards.
 
At Al Zahia, Sharjah, children enjoyed 5 documentaries: School of Hope, The Dream of a Horse, Shero, Abu Basheer, and Water, Wind, Dust, Bread.

Four International Short Films screened on Day 2 included The Needle, The Night I Left America, Beit Byoot, and Salvador Dali.

Seven Student films were screened at VOX Mirdif City Centre including Contretemps, Sauerkraut, Rest In Peace, The Seine's Tears, Spinning Top, Baba Jafar, and Melody Tone Dance.

The day’s film screenings in Dubai also included three GCC Short Films: The Girls who Burned the Night, Ali and His Miracle Sheep, and My Vibe.
