Sharjah24: More than 500 kids and teenagers from Kalba and the eastern part of the Emirate of Sharjah took part in the cultural and entertaining activities of the cultural festival," which was organised on by the Kalba Public Library (KPL), a branch of the Sharjah Public Libraries, and Al-Falak for Translation and Publishing, over five days, from August 20 - 24.
The cultural event included reading workshops, drawing and coloring workshops, and meetings that brought together children and their families with a number of writers, painters and calligraphers from the UAE and the Arab world.
Over 500 titles from publications that specialise in books for children and young adults were available to the public at the festival's exhibition of children's books. Participants also gained knowledge about the creation of paper airplanes and the Japanese craft of origami.
Aisha Al Kaabi, secretary of the Kalba Public Library, commented on the festival's success and reaffirmed Sharjah Public Libraries' desire to host several cultural and artistic events that would allow the community of Kalba and the eastern region in general to benefit from its programs, particularly children and young people. She added that more than 500 kids and their families attended the event, allowing them to discover their abilities and develop their creative skills in various cultural areas.
