Sharjah 24: On Tuesday evening, June 24, 2025, the Sharjah House of Poetry hosted a special poetry evening under the theme Mirrors of Light and Manifestations of Nostalgia. This event was part of the ongoing Tuesday Forum series, which showcases diverse poetic voices and experiences.

International poets in attendance

The evening featured poets Daoud Al-Tijani from Mauritania, Almamy Nimaga from Gambia, and Abdul Razzaq Al-Rubaie from the Sultanate of Oman. A large audience of critics, poets, and poetry enthusiasts filled the venue, engaging warmly with the performances.

Opening remarks and acknowledgements

The event was hosted by Ahmed Mohammed Al Damati, who welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his enduring support of Arab culture and poetry. Readings by Daoud Al-Tijani

Poetic reflections by Almamy Nimaga

Next, Almamy Nimaga from Gambia, currently a student at Al Qasimia University, presented poetic texts that offered aesthetic journeys into African heritage and the poet's relationship with creativity. His readings highlighted the emotional power of writing and the cultural richness of his background.

Closing with Abdul Razzaq Al-Rubaie

The evening concluded with a reading by Abdul Razzaq Al-Rubaie from Oman. His poetry centered on themes of love, change, and the emotional toll of separation. His reflections on companionship, longing, and memory left a lasting impression on the audience.

Honouring the poets

At the close of the evening, poet Mohammed Al-Buraiki, director of the House of Poetry, honored the participating poets and the evening's host, recognizing their contributions to a memorable literary gathering.
