Sharjah 24: Sharjah is making great efforts to maintain environmental balance, combat desertification and reduce overgrazing, establishing pastures in various cities and regions of the Emirate, including Al Shamal Pasture, which is the largest of its kind in the Emirate, with an area of 11 square kilometres. In addition ranches were allocated to livestock owners from Al Zubaydah and Suhaila regions.
Sharjah, as part of its pioneering efforts in preserving the environment and sustaining its resources, and caring for animal and plant wealth and benefiting from it, has adopted the establishment of pastures in various cities and regions of the Emirate, and has provided various means of support to livestock owners.
In 2020, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated Al Shamal Pasture in Al Dhaid, which is the largest of its kind in the Emirate.
130 ranches were allocated for the benefit of livestock breeders, from the people of the Central Region, and they were provided with an integrated infrastructure of electricity, water, fodder storage, and a veterinary clinic.
Plants were cultivated inside the pasture on an area of 400,000 square metres, and included a variety of local trees, namely: Al Thamam, Al Markh, Al Talh, Al Samar, Al Ghaf, Al Sidr and Al Tabladi.
