Sharjah Ruler inspects devt. projects in Al Dhaid in CR

Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, affirmed that the wheel of development in the Emirate, which aims to meet the requirements of its people and provide them with a decent life, continues despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
His Highness indicated that the Central Region has distinguished development projects at its various sectors, with progress continuing, adding that its opening will follow at the end of next year.

This came during his speech delivered on Sunday at the University of Sharjah, Al Dhaid Branch, as part of his inspection visit to development projects in the Central Region.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah stressed that housing is one of the most important priorities in the region. His Highness pointed out that housing initiatives and plans have been developed to take into account the specificity of the Central Region, the distribution of the population in it and to provide the best areas and residential complexes similar to the rest of the cities and regions of the Emirate.

His Highness said that the city of Al Dhaid is considered to have a privileged location, as three main and important roads pass through it, namely, Khorfakkan Road, Al Dhaid Road and Dibba Al Hisn Road, which will be worked on soon.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah pointed out that the development projects in Al Dhaid city would provide greater job opportunities through the supervision and management of the various new institutions and facilities in addition to specialised jobs.

His Highness touched on a number of projects, including the Dhaid Market, which is located between Al Jameh Square and Al Bardi Square, at a cost of 100 million dirhams.

His Highness added that Al Dhaid Park project, which has been in plans for more than four years, comes to contribute to the flow of movement and the great turnout that the region will witness. The park will contain a kilometer-long lake and a number of tourist, commercial and sports facilities and activities. In addition, a 6 km long forest from Tal Al Zafaran to Khorfakkan Road. The forest will contain 10 million trees that have been classified according to the region and its environment.

His Highness said the Sharjah Safari project, which is located within the Al Bardi Reserve in the city of Al Dhaid, at a cost of one billion dirhams, would provide 300 job opportunities for people of the region, and they will be trained on their duties and specialisations from now until the opening of the safari.

During his speech, His Highness touched on the Al Dhaid Fort project, which constitutes a great value to the Al Dhaid region, its people and its ancient history, as work is underway to restore it and develop the area around it to include gardens, museums, commercial and tourism facilities.

On the educational and academic side, His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, maintained that the University of Sharjah, Al Dhaid Branch, has approved many development and expansion projects, including laboratories, educational facilities and buildings for the accommodation of employees and students, and other additional services. This come in order to keep pace with the educational development in it and to later become the University of Al Dhaid.

His Highness addressed also the project of the Academy of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, which will be located on the right side opposite Saih Al Muhab Square towards the University of Sharjah, Al Dhaid Branch. The academy will include specialised institutes in the agricultural, desert and veterinary sciences sector. The academy will train specialists who keep pace with the scientific progress and environmental diversity of the region.

His Highness indicated that work is underway to develop the Al Dhaid Sports and Cultural Club, with its stadiums, gymnasium, administrative buildings, roads and entrances to facilitate access for players and club visitors.

On the rest of the development projects in the Central Region, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah said that the projects are being implemented gradually and will include all regions, including Mleiha, Al Madam and Al Bataeh.

His Highness pointed out that the many development projects for road networks and infrastructure come in line with the development that the Central Region will witness in future tourist demand.

His Highness praised the efforts made by those in charge of the Al Wusta Channel in Al Dhaid, which was established to transmit and preserve the heritage, culture and history of the region, and which the channel team and their guests from the region’s inhabitants excelled in handling and presenting it to viewers in an easy and accessible way.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah inspected also the housing project for employees of the University of Sharjah, where he viewed a model of a building that includes 4 housing units.

His Highness reviewed the plans of the project, which will include various housing units meeting the numbers and sizes of families. His Highness directed to provide the best services that support the stability of the university’s employees.

His Highness was accompanied during his visit by Dr. Khalifa Musabbah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Directorate of Housing, Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Public Works, Engineer Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Advisor to the Department of Town Planning and Survey, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, heads of municipal councils in the Central Region, and a number of notables in the region.
