Sharjah24: Within their efforts to optimise the summer vacation for children aged 5 to 12, the Social Services Department in Sharjah has launched the Summer Friends programme, in partnership with the Child and Family Protection Centre. This inaugural initiative aims to enhance children's skills, instill awareness of their societal rights, provide self-protection strategies, foster peer communication, and enrich their holiday experiences.
The Summer Friends programme's activities will run until the end of August 2023. It encompasses a variety of informative sessions held in partnership with different community entities concerned with child welfare in Sharjah.
The initiative is divided into a number of programmes. The first programme focuses on "Addressing School Bullying," enlightening children about this issue. The second programme, titled "Empowering Personal Boundaries," educates children about safeguarding themselves. The third programme, known as "My Rights," delivers legal insights presented by legal experts to acquaint children with their rights and duties. Lastly, the "Super Strength" programme, guided by psychological specialists from the Child and Family Protection Centre, employs speech intelligence technology to enhance verbal expression.
