Sharjah 24: In its third session, the “Community Pulse” initiative, launched by the Sharjah Social Services Department, recommended granting elderly residents of the nursing home a golden card that allows them to access all healthcare services across the UAE. The session also called for giving priority to this group in institutions and offering discounts for their caregivers

Broad stakeholder participation

The brainstorming session included representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community Development, Sharjah Health Authority, Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah Charity International, Al Amal Hospital in Dubai, and Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah.

Overview of services provided since 1986

Fatima Abdullah Al Ali, Deputy Director of the Home and Head of the Medical Clinic Department, presented an overview of the services provided since the home's establishment in 1986. These include medical care, nursing, physiotherapy, psychological and social support, in addition to internal and external activities aimed at integrating elderly residents into society and ensuring their active participation.

Comprehensive living environment and personalised care

Al Ali confirmed that the home offers a comprehensive living environment, including smart rooms, private and shared accommodation according to the residents’ preferences, and personalised meal services. Special attention is given to mental health, behavioral therapy, and rehabilitation, alongside physiotherapy services—all under a holistic approach that safeguards the rights of the elderly and promotes their social reintegration.
