APC discusses “the Sustainable Effort for the Climate”

APC body discussed the topic of the session entitled “The Arab Child: A Sustainable Effort for the Climate”, and the readiness of APC members to share their views and present their recommendations regarding this important issue.

The parliament body was attended by the Kuwaiti Janan Al Sharif, Chairperson of APC; the Palestinian Hala Jahlil, Vice-President of APC; and Yasmina Meshik, Chairperson of the Child Rights Committee; in addition to of His Excellency Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of APC; Muhammad Al Hosani, Secretary; and Maryam Obaid Hadid, Researcher in APC.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of APC, stressed the importance of holding the meeting before the session, since the parliament body is the highest authority in APC, assumes its role in reviewing and approving the course of work of the next session, in addition to reviving creative ideas, managing the session, controlling the time and the topics presented, and reaching valuable recommendations that will be submitted to the Arab League.

Janan Al Sharif, Chairperson of APC, confirmed that APC members showed great readiness to discuss the topic of the session, "The Arab Child: A Sustainable Effort for the Climate", the importance Arab children opinion on the issue that affects present and future, and the urgent need for climate action that is responsive to all changes.

Janan Al Sharif pointed out that the climate represents an urgent issue that requires immediate attention, and the session raises the issue at its time, which represents a pivotal moment in history for children from all Arab countries to share their views on the fate and well-being of the planet.

Members approved the topic of the session, all the procedures related to holding the session, and the number of members requesting the floor in this matter.  

Members also reviewed the work of the Child Rights Committee and the Activities and Events committee that will hold a meeting to discuss their different roles within the programmes of APC third term.

Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for the Child, stated that the next session will reveal children’s rich interventions, in light of the integrated training that children received.
