Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has completed the installation of a new water desalination plant that operates with the reverse osmosis system in Sir Bu Nair Island to promote development and meet the requirements of tourism activities in providing pure drinking water instead of the old plant with low efficiency.
Engineer Essam Al Mulla, Director of the Water and Desalination Plants Department, affirmed that the project was completed in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide the best services to all regions aligns with the authority’s plan to enhance the infrastructure and meet the increasing demand for water on the island. The station was supplied New technology with the latest technology to produce pure water that meets the standards of the World Health Organization for drinking water.
He pointed out that the new plant is equipped with energy-saving engines and improved equipment and devices to reduce the consumption of chemicals, in line with the Authority's strategy to support green initiatives and promote environmental sustainability.
He said, "The completion of the new station was accomplished after overcoming a number of challenges represented in the on-site installation circumstances, as the construction of reservoirs, and the arrival of the station's equipment and materials to the island transformed by sea."
He emphasized that when the station is operational, the island's water demands would be met, and the development process will be reinforced over the next phase.
