SEWA wins second place in EEG’s Waste Management Award

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) won second place at the UAE level in the Waste Management and Recycling Award for Printer Ink Cartridges in the Enterprise category, organised annually by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG). SEWA was recognised for its achievement in collecting and recycling 200 ink cartridges.
The award ceremony was held at the Dubai Knowledge Park and was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Executive Council Member of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the Civil Aviation Department. The award aligns with SEWA's strategy, which prioritises environmental conservation and sustainable development. Engineer Fatima Ali Asghar, Director of Information Technology and Communications at SEWA, emphasised the authority's commitment to launching various initiatives that contribute to raising awareness of the importance of energy conservation and environmental protection.

Ahmed Hussein Al Hammadi, Head of the Operations and Technical Support Department at (SEWA), explained that 41 entities voluntarily joined the group's waste management initiatives and participated in the annual waste management campaigns. They worked diligently throughout the year to achieve significant results in various categories of the award, including waste management and recycling campaigns across the UAE. These campaigns covered paper, plastic, aluminum cans, ink, mobile phones, and glass bottles.
