Sharjah 24: On the occasion of the Emirati Children's Day, Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW), praised the importance of voluntary work and its role in refining the child's personality, highlighting that this occasion is an opportunity to raise awareness about ensuring children's rights, supporting them, and guiding them in the right direction.
He pointed out that the SAVW targets children with a series of child-related programmes, the most prominent of which is the "Volunteer Stars" initiative, which honours school students in the Emirate of Sharjah. In addition to the "Sustainable Volunteering" competition, which targets all entities concerned with children and schools at the level of the United Arab Emirates, in all its categories, whether governmental or private, provided that each entity participates in the best practices, activities and initiatives concerned with instilling a culture of volunteering among students.
The SAVW is also keen to promote volunteering values among young people and children, through a number of diverse programmes that contribute to refining children's skills towards volunteer work.
Al Hammadi added that such programmes contribute greatly to educating students and occupying their free time with useful things, especially since the Emirati Children's Day aims to educate all segments of society about the rights of the children.
