SCC's Family Affairs Committee members visit DSCD

Sharjah24: The Family Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council reviewed the various roles and tasks of the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) in the Emirate of Sharjah, and got acquainted with all the roles played in the preparation of various surveys and questionnaires, as well as the stages currently being implemented in the "Sharjah Census 2022" project.
The visit to the Department of Statistics and Community Development came within the framework of the Family Affairs Committee's plan within its work for the fourth regular session of the tenth legislative term, with the aim of reviewing its roles and preparing to discuss its policy during March.

SCC’s delegation included Her Excellency Fatima Ali Al Muhairi, Chairperson of the Committee, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr, Her Excellency Afra bin Halees Al Ketbi, His Excellency Abdullah Muhammad Al Shamsi, and from the General Secretariat of the Council, Huda Al Hammadi, the Secretary, and Islam Al Shiwi, the media expert.

At the beginning of the visit, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Statistics and Community Development, and his assistants, welcomed the visit of the Sharjah Consultative Council delegation from the Family Affairs Committee, stressing that the Sharjah Consultative Council represents Sharjah society in expressing its opinion based on  the insightful vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in the establishment of the Consultative Council to be the source  in conveying the aspirations of citizens.Her Excellency Fatima Ali Al Muhairi, Chairperson of the Family Affairs Committee, conveyed the greetings of the Chairman of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, the Vice-Chairman, the Secretary General, and the members, noting at the beginning of her speech that SCC appreciates all the roles and sincere efforts made by the Department of Statistics and Community Development since its establishment in 2014 to perform supportive tasks to promote the renaissance achieved in the Emirate of Sharjah.

After that, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi and his assistant briefed the Family Committee of the SCC on the "Sharjah Census 2022" project, which is one of the significant projects that the department is currently implementing, including the study and analysis of the demographic situation of the Emirate of Sharjah, and its objective of supporting and strengthening comprehensive development plans and the importance of the census in the Emirate. 

Then, the important roles offered by the department were introduced and reviewed through its adoption of the science of statistics in various fields and sectors, in a way that supports sustainable development in the emirate.

The statistics and achievements of the Department of Statistics and Community Development and its various efforts were reviewed, especially in the context of its constant communication with government and private agencies . The department continues its work in establishing an updated database for the emirate's population and the various sectors that are based in Sharjah. The department confirmed that it represents a major element in drawing up a policy map. Economic and social development  in the interest of all residents of the Emirate, including citizens, residents and visitors, and improving the standard of living and services there.

During the meeting, members of  Family Affairs Committee put forward a number of inquiries and proposals aimed at strengthening and developing the department's roles in line with its roles related to the family, to keep pace with the process of achievement  in the emirate, and to participate in the development of society by continuously following up on its changes, accommodating the needs of its members, and building a bright future for generations.
