The Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Sharjah Police, Colonel Omar Abu Al Zoud, explained that by research and investigation, it was proved that the suspects were involved in several thefts from inside commercial stores in the Emirate of Sharjah, so the theft crimes teams set a well-articulated plan to catch the gang and seize all its members.
He indicated that an unknown person broke into a shop specialised in selling mobile phones late at night and seized smart phones and accessories worth AED200,000. Surveillance cameras showed that the thief intended to mislead police by wearing a mask, hat, coat and gloves while committing the crime, but the efforts made by the specialised team prevented that, and they were able to reach him within only 8 hours of committing the crime, and return the stolen items to the owner of the shop.
He added that by interrogating the thief, he confessed to committing the crime and was transferred along with his accomplices to the Public Prosecution to complete the legal procedures against them.
The Director of the Criminal Investigation Department called on shop owners to strengthen preventive measures related to securing doors and locks, and to ensure that they are linked to modern security systems that detect thefts, in addition to not leaving large sums of money and valuables inside the shops.
