Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) held an urgent meeting, on Tuesday, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, declared through the "Direct Line" programme, which is broadcast on Sharjah’s radio and television.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council and in the presence of all members, discussing all procedures and measures necessary to implement the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, whether in the field of UAE sport in general or the Emirate of Sharjah in particular.
At the end of its two-hour meeting, the council decided to communicate with the General Authority of Sports and sports federations to discuss the state of sports in the country, in light of the deteriorating results of the national teams, especially with regard to the Arabian Gulf Cup.
The council also decided to form a higher committee at the level of the Emirate of Sharjah, headed by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, to meet with the heads of the clubs, and discuss the mechanism for implementing the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, regarding reducing the number of foreigners, and giving opportunity to national players. In addition, the council will exclude foreign players from futsal competitions, starting from the next season 2023-2024.
