Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) released the report "Education and Its Economic Impact on Sharjah." In this booklet the department discussed the impact of education on the Emirate's GDP.
It also highlighted the potential of economic growth in Sharjah's education sector, the expansion of educational facility licences, and the diversity of economic activity in this field. It also looked at the geographical distribution of activity in this sector, as well as the types and sizes of higher education institutions in the Emirate.
SEDD's efforts to encourage investment in education, its flexibility, the customer's journey, private education institutions in the Emirate, the growth rates of public and private schools and the number of classes, as well as public demand, its role in creating new opportunities in Sharjah, and the importance of its development were all mentioned in the release. The booklet talked about how Sharjah's educational institutions, like the University of Sharjah, the American University of Sharjah, Al Qasimia University, and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Marine Transportation in Khorfakkan, help promote public and university education.
According to SEDD Chairman Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, education and its institutions prepare, educate, and develop individuals. Because education is essential for the development of mental and intellectual abilities, it has an economic function and contributes to economic success and growth through investments in human resources and education spending, as well as its inputs and sources.
Sharjah's government, according to Al Suwaidi, invests heavily in education in order to improve and enrich it. His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, both advocate for the development and improvement of education.
Sharjah became a cultural capital, an incubator for education, and a patron of knowledge pioneers in schools, colleges, and educational and vocational centres, which have evolved into effective and active institutions and are a tributary to the Emirate's economic movement and labour market.
He went on to say that the education sector bears a great responsibility in addressing the world's challenges and meeting the growing needs of individuals by keeping up with the transformations of renewable knowledge, modern technology, and advanced industries, as well as increasing the business sector's contribution to Sharjah's development.
According to Noura bin Sandal, SEDD's Deputy Director of Economic Planning and Studies, this release is part of a series the department is working on to keep up with Sharjah's new transformation, which necessitates data, statistics, and analyses for investors and decision makers.
This booklet contains the most important economic statistics about the education sector and its development in the Emirate, as well as a timeline of economic developments and projections. This makes future economic growth in the Emirate's education sector easier to plan for, and it documents the Emirate's economic progress by monitoring and recording annual changes in activities and sectors. It also symbolises efforts to promote economic and social development.
His Highness the Sharjah Ruler issued wise directives to implement economic policies that support economic growth and are based on building people and achieving sustainable development, as well as creating an appropriate climate to activate investments in various production and service sectors.
She also stated that the booklet confirms Sharjah's progress in economic diversification and development under prudent leadership that aims to maximise the use of existing energy and resources.
