Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) discussed mechanisms for activating sports cooperation with the Russian Republic of Tatarstan "Kazan" through opening horizons for the exchange of experiences between the two sides, which will be reflected in the council's plans to develop sports in the emirate due to its distinguished sports reputation.
This came on the sidelines of the reception of Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the SSC, on Wednesday, of the delegation consisting of Vladimir Leonov, Tatarstan Minister of Sports, and Marcel Miftakhov, Advisor to the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The meeting discussed training programmes for trainers and physical education teachers, organising and hosting sports camps for Sharjah clubs and teams in various types of sports, as well as discussing the possibility of organising programmes and workshops for athletes from Sharjah in different sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, etc., and holding friendly tournaments and matches which bring together a sports team from Sharjah and Kazan, and the Council's participation in international conferences and exhibitions in Kazan.
The meeting also reviewed the study of coexistence and experiences in world-class sports clubs in Kazan, in addition to a proposal for a talent identification, sports genetics and sports medicine laboratory.
The Chairman of the SSC concluded: The coming period will witness more communication with those responsible for sports in Tatarstan in order to activate proposals and ideas in a way that leads to achieving the desired goals and benefiting the emirate from the sports aspects and strengthening the strategy of the Sharjah Sports Council in making sports in the emirate at the highest level in all administrative and technical aspects.
In the same context, the sports delegation from Tatarstan praised the emirate's distinguished infrastructure and thanked the council for the fruitful meeting between the two sides and affirmed Tatarstan's desire to open the field of sports cooperation with Sharjah, which also leads to joint work with the Sharjah Sports Council.
