Sharjah24: The Chess and Culture Club for Sharjah Women launched the activities of the second edition of the Arab Family Blitz Chess Championship, held on the sidelines of the Sharjah International Women's Cup and the Sharjah International Junior Cup.
The tournament witnessed the participation of the most prominent chess families known in the Arab world.
The winners of the first day's competitions were led by the Al-Khatib family, and the Bin Ibrahim family came second.
Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, Vice President of the International Chess Federation and Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, crowned the winners.
Sheikh Saud stressed that organising the tournament contributes to the development of chess in the Arab World.
