Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah (UOS) delegation, which is currently visiting Mexico, has held various scientific and academic meetings and visits with a number of specialized universities and academic institutions in Mexico, with the aim of strengthening academic and research relations with these institutions.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between UOS and the University of Guanajuato (UG), by the UOS’s Chancellor, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy on behalf of the University and by Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, Rector General of UG, with the aim of cooperating in the exchange of students, graduates, faculty members, joint academic research activities, training opportunities, scientific publications, lectures, conferences, seminars, and developing ideas for joint research projects.
Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, pointed out that this MoU will help in the exchange of academic research experiences between the two universities, he added that the UOS with the support and guidance of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the UOS, became one of the leading universities in the Arab region that offers various academic programs in a wide range of disciplines that suits the needs of the labor market. Al Naimiy is looking forward to starting the implementation steps of this cooperation in holding joint scientific activities, events and conferences.
For his part, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, Rector General of UG, welcomed the University of Sharjah delegation in Mexico, praising the academic achievements accomplished by the UOS at the local, regional and global level during the past 25 years since its establishments, expressing his happiness over the signing of the MoU that will broaden cooperation between UOS and UG in various fields.
The signing was attended by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Amina Al Marzouqi, Assistant Chancellor of Branch Affairs, and Dr. Tarek Merabtene, Director of the Office of International Relations, UOS. In addition to attendees from Mexico including Dr. Cecilia Ramos Estrada, Secretary-General, UG, Dr. Sergio Antonio, Academic Provost, Dr. Salvador Hernández, Secretary of Management and Development and a number of UG’s faculty members.
The UOS delegation was taken on an inspection tour of the University of Guanajuato, visited its scientific facilities and laboratories and was received by the president of UG and a number of directors of research centers and faculty members, in which they discussed the steps and the executive procedures to follow up the activation of the agreement terms and achieve the set goals.
It is noteworthy that the University of Guanajuato is one of the well-established universities dating back to the year of 1732, and was established in 1945. The UG, across its different branches in various cities, offers various scientific majors including biology, chemistry, law, agriculture and zoology, environmental engineering, sustainable and renewable energy, business administration, arts, data engineering, artificial intelligence, computer science, and more.
