Sharjah24 – Reuters: London's Battersea Power Station marked the opening of an ice rink and a 109-metre (358 ft) high viewing platform on Monday (November 14), weeks after the landmark officially opened to glitzy hub of offices, flats, restaurants and shops.
The ice rink, named "Glide", is composed of three interconnecting rinks with a nine-metre (30ft) tall Christmas tree as its centrepiece.

Revellers can also ride a festive Ferris wheel and carousel present at the site, as well as book one of the three private pods called "igloos".

Another experience being showcased was "Lift 109", a glass elevator that takes visitors to the top of the landmark’s chimney to offer a 360-degree view of London's skyline. The attraction is set to open on Tuesday (November 15).

The 1930s power station once supplied a fifth of London's electricity, including to Buckingham Palace and parliament, but is better known for featuring alongside a floating inflatable pig on the cover of Pink Floyd's 1977 album "Animals".

Its 9-billion-pound ($10.2 billion) redevelopment, backed by a group of Malaysian investors, will see thousands of people living and working in and around the once-derelict station after its formal opening on Oct. 14.
