Sharjah24: Dr Nina Hyedemann, Director of Maraya Art Centre and "1971-Design Space," spoke to "Sharjah 24" on the occasion of the opening of the exhibitions "Spaces Between" and "Sahara Hidden Adornments" at the Maraya Art Centre in Al Qasba, and she said, "The first show is all about space of contemplation, when we are genuinely focusing on something and have nothing around it.
The exhibition is heavily influenced by Japanese culture, so visitors to Maraya may expect a peaceful, Zen-like environment to admire the pieces on display.

Yet, on the second floor, there is a completely different exhibition titled "Sahara Hidden Adornments," which features the work of Emirati artist Dr Karima Al Shomely, who has a Ph.D. in the history of the burqa. It's all about the things that women keep hidden away in a treasure chest for their own protection.”

At the end of her talk, she encouraged the audience to visit Maraya Centre to view the two exhibitions.
