This is in response to a complaint that the Operations Room got on Sunday, at around 3 p.m., claiming that a run-over accident had occurred on Al-Taawun Street in Sharjah, resulting in one person's death, while the culprit escaped the site of the accident.
The Sharjah Police's competent authorities started searching and investigating the suspect right away. In less than 5 hours, they were able to identify the suspect, who was then apprehended after confessing to the crime and explaining that he had continued traveling because he was confused and afraid. The case was then handed over to the appropriate authorities.
According to the Federal Traffic and Traffic Law, fleeing the scene of an accident is a crime punishable by law. Sharjah Police urges drivers to assist the victim and save his life, bearing humanitarian and societal responsibility, rather than fleeing to avoid criminal responsibility.
