Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority (SDAA) participated in the celebration of the "Arab Document Day for 2022", organised on Sunday by the League of Arab States, in coordination with the Arab regional branch of the International Council on Archives " ARBICA ".
The Authority’s delegation was represented by His Excellency Salah Salem Al Mahmoud, Director General of the Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority (SDAA), Sheikh Mohammed bin Fayez Al Qasimi, Director of Studies and Knowledge Services Department, and Nasser Badr Al Naqbi, Head of the Documents Secretariat Section at the Authority.
Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States for Social Affairs, delivered the speech during the opening session, on behalf of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stressing that the celebration of the Arab Document Day this year comes under the title “Arab Archives: A bridge for communication between Peoples", highlights the pivotal role of the archive in building bridges of communication and cooperation between peoples throughout the ages.
Aboul Gheit stressed that the archive is an integral part of the memory of the Arab nation, emphasising that preserving it is the Arab countries’ national responsibility, especially in light of the huge challenges facing our Arab region.
A statement issued by the Arab League today stated that this celebration comes to underscore the importance of the status of the Arab document, stressing that the Arab document is the original basis on which the identity of nations is based.
