SEWA-Khorfakkan organises rationalisation hour in Hayawa Suburb

Sharjah 24: The Khorfakkan Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority organised the rationalisation hour in Hayawa Suburb, as part of its efforts aimed at raising environmental awareness and the concerted efforts of government agencies to support community initiatives and promote a culture of rationalisation to achieve sustainability and encourage society to change consumption habits.
Eng. Ahmed Al Mulla, Director of Khorfakkan Electricity Department; Dr. Rashid Arab, Chairman of Khorfakkan Municipal Council; Sultan Al Mansouri, Director of the Emiri Diwan in Khorfakkan; Khaled Ahmed Buhendi Al Mansouri, Chairman of Al Hayawa Suburb Council; a number managers and officials from various departments participated in the event.

The annual event seeks to raise awareness of the importance of rationalising consumption and optimal use of energy, especially in peak times, and to highlight the SEWA’s most important rationalisation initiatives, the most important of which is the rationalisation hour launched by SEWA under the guidance and support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah to be on the first of July of each year from 2.30 pm to 3.30. the event aslo aims to review the views and suggestions of the participants to develop the goals and mechanisms for implementing the initiative.

Eng. Ahmed Al Mulla explained that the Department’s Conservation Department implemented a plan to attract the largest number of government agencies, companies and individuals to participate in the activities of the rationalisation hour, which is considered a symbolic hour aimed at drawing the attention of community leaders, institutions and individuals to the need to adhere to the principles of optimal use of energy and water, reduce carbon emissions, and raise awareness and educate all segments of society. 

Khaled Buhendi, in a short address, welcomed the suburb’s hosting of the Conservation Council, stressing that the Hayawa Suburb Council works to meet all the needs of all segments of society within the scope of its competence and powers and in cooperation with partners from government departments and private sector institutions, praising the support given by the department to suburb councils in cities of the Emirate of Sharjah.
