Sharjah24: Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has implemented an intensive program for periodic maintenance of 227 electricity transmission stations, including 196 33 kV stations, 5 high pressure 220 kV stations, 26 132 kV stations, in addition to a high pressure network with a length of more than 1200 km in various parts of Sharjah. The programme of preventive maintenance for the extensions of the electricity network and transformers in various regions of Sharjah, in preparation for receiving the summer months.
Engineer Hamad Al Tunaiji, Director of the Energy Transmission Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, confirmed that the authority is working with its full capacity to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to develop electricity networks in all regions of the Emirate of Sharjah.
He explained that the programme of periodic and preventive maintenance work for power transmission stations starts annually from October 1 to May 15 so that it is during the winter months that witness a drop in loads, which contributes to conducting maintenance work without affecting customers.
Engineer Ahmed Baniyas, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Transmission, confirmed that all replacement, renewal, maintenance and modification works depend on technicians and engineers in the maintenance departments of the authority, pointing out that the application of modern maintenance concepts, which include preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, ensures high operational efficiency with the highest levels of safety for workers and at the lowest costs.
