Mariam Al Mazmi, Director of the Institutional Communication Centre in SDPW, said: "The institutional communication centre launched the "International Archives Day" competition in the field of archives and manuscript preservation, in recognition of the value of that document as a rich subject to chronicle the past and the present, stressing the importance of the archive and the need to raise awareness of the importance of documentation culture among all segments of society.
Mira Ahmed, head of the archive department in SDPW, stressed the importance of concerted efforts of all department employees to take care of the document, as a necessary human memory, and its need for well-arranged archives and documents that are easily accessible, in light of the great development that the world is witnessing in the mechanisms of preserving all kinds of documents by educational and digital means, in order to achieve the goals of the initiative through a competitive atmosphere that stimulates participation in the educational competition for which in-kind prizes were allocated.
"The celebration also included a lecture on Arabic calligraphy in cooperation with the Department of Culture in Sharjah. The department also reviewed the developments that occurred in archiving and the mechanisms of work in this regard, especially electronic archiving," Mira Ahmed added.
