Sharjah 24: Sharjah Police came to the rescue of a driver whose cruise control failed while he was travelling at 120kph on Khorfakkan Road towards Sharjah.
The motorist was driving on Khorfakkan Road when the function, which automatically controls the speed of a vehicle, malfunctioned on Wednesday morning.

He managed to alert police to his plight, which left him unable to stop or alter the speed of his car.

Police were dispatched to his location and dealt professionally and skillfully with the situation.

Officers tried to calm the driver down and assist him over the phone while police patrols were dealing with the situation.

Police placed a patrol car in front of it, allowing the car to bump into the police vehicle until it gradually slowed to a halt without causing any harm to the driver.

The Sharjah Police calls on motorists not to rely entirely on the cruise control, while making sure to abide by the speed limits established on the road, follow traffic safety instructions, and inform the operations room in the event of any emergency or technical malfunction, and urged motorists to carry out regular maintenance checks on their vehicles.
