Al Khalidiya Council, Red Crescent launch excess food initiative

Sharjah24: Al Khalidiya Suburb Council has strengthened its cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority by launching an initiative, the first of its kind at the level of councils, to allocate a specific place and time to collect excess food on a daily basis in the suburb.
This came during an urgent meeting that was coordinated at the council’s headquarters in the presence of His Excellency Khalfan Saeed Al-Marri, Chairman of the Council, and Jarrah. During the meeting, it was agreed to allocate a headquarters next to the suburb council and a specific time that will be announced later on social media as an alternative to using food refrigerators in the suburb.

This bilateral agreement comes to treat a number of phenomena that accompanied the distribution of food by families, thus achieving the initiative of the principle of social solidarity and the use of the principle of preserving redundant food in a healthy and safe manner and transferring it to those who need it in a proper manner according to high quality standards and specifications.

Al Khalidiya Council stated that the start date of the initiative will be announced, in which the blessing car will be parked next to the council's headquarters to collect redundant foods to organise the process within safe requirements and standards.
