Sharjah 24: His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), returned to the UAE after a short trip to the Arab Republic of Egypt, during which he met Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Chairman and Members of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Sports Culture Award, on the sidelines of the meetings of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports held at the League of Arab States in Cairo, where he unveiled the Arab Sports Cultural Forum that will be organised by the Sharjah Sports Council during July and November, on the occasion of the Emirate of Sharjah winning the Arab Sports Culture Capital Award for the year 2021.
The details of the forum were announced in a press conference, in the Marriott Hotel, in the presence of the Arab ministers last Wednesday.
Al Hazami started the press conference by thanking the attendees for their condolences on the departure of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and their blessings to his successor, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. Al Hazami also expressed the council's gratitude for the Emirate of Sharjah's winning of the Arab Sports Capital of Culture award, and pointed out that the award joined previous awards from UNESCO, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation and the Arab Tourism Ministers Council.
Al Hazami reviewed the details of the forum, which will include next July the activities of the Book Market, the Sharjah Summer Programme, Dare to Read, Al Dhaid Date Festival, Summer Fun, and the tug-of-war championship. While during the month of November, the forum will include Kalba Beach Games, Traditional Crafts Forum, Sharjah International Book Fair, Adventure and Camping Exhibition, Arts Forum, and Winter Festival on Khorfakkan Beach.
It should be noted that His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami was accompanied by Bakhit Al Qurs, his office manager. During the visit, he presented the Shield of the Sports Council to the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, and Ashraf Mahmoud, President of the Arab Federation for Sports Culture. His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami also attended the opening session of the meetings of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers of the League of Arab States. He also attended the draw for the African Handball Championship, which will be hosted in Cairo from 9 to 19 July.
